It's choosing to still thrive in a world and culture that barely wants you to survive.
It's influencing and creating that speaks to the tired soul.
It's more than a cute Instagram hashtag.
It's more than being part of the melananted rainbow, snow albino to rich navy blue hued.
It's more than being For Us By US.
It's more than being deemed "unfriendly" or "not a team player" for choosing to respect your boundaries  vs. mindless gossiping to Becky with the good hair.
Not even a once a year Target display can fully define this thang.

It's choosing to carve out a safe space for yourself that your closest loved ones failed to produce.
It's discovering that "speaking Ebonics" does not define you any more or less.
It's little boys and girls learning their lives are worth more than slinging dope, playing sports or shaking their asses to feed six babies on welfare.
It's putting your foot down on consistent referrals as "STRONG" or "RESILIENT".
It's recognizing that we are NOT a One Size Fits All grouping.
It's what 28 to 29 days can never fully embody.
It's a luxury many claim to have hate towards,  yet secretly wish and go under needles and knives to fulfill.
