The Marriage of TV and Real Life
Happy New Years Eve!! Crazy how 2015 will be here with a quickness. But before 2014 becomes a thing of the past, can I just be real with y'all for a second?? Yeah? Alright, let's go then.
So, around a few months ago, I had posted about how God uses unexpected mediums to deliver His message to His people. For me, he had used a very old character to do so: Popeye. Well, he decided to use one more show to tell me something: Rugrats. The particular episode that got utilized was when frightful Chuckie Finster had become afraid of going down the slide after a traumatizing experience at the playground. Add in Angelica's taunting and teasing, he felt worthless, afraid and alone --- much of what I have been feeling the last few months. I mean, I still don't have a job within the nursing field as of yet, I've been single for going on four years, I feel like utter crap most days, people don't seem to take my feelings seriously, & the list can go on and on.
Long story short, by the end of the episode, with a little encouragement from the other Ruggies and faith in himself , Chuckie finally faced his fear and conquered it head on. And he loved it even more than before♥. And then, it hit me: if a fictitious toddler could gain the strength to face what scares him, how come I couldn't?? Why was it so difficult for me to face real life hurts and pain, as afraid of them I am?
SIMPLE: Chuckie did it because he WANTED to change. He desired to be free from that fear like he was before. But, I believe he also knew that if it was going to come to pass, ultimately HE was the one responsible for making that desire a reality.
Insane how much fiction and real life are intertwined. Anywho, I hope everyone has a wonderful 2015!!
