The Secret's Out
It was FINALLY right. Timing, connection, everything was perfect. Only one little roadblock stood in the way: Nobody could know about us.
I couldn't wrap my head around that request, You wanted this life as much as I did. You couldn't keep those beady yet bashful eyes off of me. But instead of just cutting you off completely, I decided to give this a fair chance. You know, to show you that I was game.
As time went on, my anger and love grew stronger and stronger. Soon, they were in competition with one another, until one day I just lost it. I simply could not take anymore of the hiding, the secrecy, the pain. What's the purpose of having the "sacred" thing in your reach if you couldn't tell the rest of the world about it?
So, I told. And told. And you guessed it : TOLD SOME MORE. I let every person within my sight know about us. Oh, now here's the real kicker of it all: They knew it all along. So, that whole "say nothing to anybody" shpiel wasn't even worth telling me. People can tell when something's going on.
Now, try to help me understand this. What is honestly the worst thing that could prosper if the world knew about our love, babe? They'll dislike you? Try to keep us apart by saying a load of bullcrap about our character? Or , here's a good one: make the claim that we're "like family" and it's wrong to pursue what both of our hearts were feeling?
Well, try getting this through your thick, empty skull: Who are you honestly trying to fool? I didn't choose to be with you for other people's entertainment or seal of approval. If those people REALLY cared for you like they claim they do, then they'll let us be whomever we desire to be.
Trying to keep one from the very thing that puts a smile on their face is a stunt pulled by someone who merely does not have a person's best interests at heart.
I may not have all the moves to solve this game called True Love, but I do know that I will not ...no CANNOT win this way and neither will you. So, you answer me this : what's the worst that can really happen when the secret's out?
