How the Rain Brings Change--In Depth
Hello, lovely people :) Can you believe that it's September already?? Insanity! I wanted to touch on a subject that is a bit unorthodox but insightful, with a little help from my friend Chelsea (you know, this'll be the third time I've had her on here lol). This was also inspired by a poem titled the same that I've written about three years ago in college--which I'll put down below at the end.
Now, I have a serious questions to pose for you all: what do you feel when you hear the word 'rain' ? Depression? Sadness? Sleepy? Wet? Lonely? For Chels and I, we feel something totally different from each of those words I just listed: CLEANSED.
Now, I have a serious questions to pose for you all: what do you feel when you hear the word 'rain' ? Depression? Sadness? Sleepy? Wet? Lonely? For Chels and I, we feel something totally different from each of those words I just listed: CLEANSED.
Let me explain: personally, I enjoy the rain and the fresh aftermath of a storm. I feel that the world is totally stripped of a buildup of impure natures and revived from the dead like a THRILLER zombie.
Honestly, I think that the world needed this rain storm with all that's gone on this summer from the Ebola virus scare to senseless killings of the innocent to the untimely deaths that shook the world to the core---most recently, the passings of beloved actor Robin Williams and funny lady Joan Rivers. The reason why I say that is because it seems that lately when a fairly traumatic or frightening event happens, a large plethora of rain seems to accompany it (example: on the day when the world received word of both Robin's and Joan's unexpected deaths---ALL the rain that the heavens had stored up had seemed to explode all over the place!)
Now let's see what Chels thinks: Not everyone likes rain. I know that especially applies for girls who just did their hair, am I right? Personally, it gives me anxiety when rain is accompanied by thunder and lightening. Other than that, much like a good cry after weeks of trials and tribulation, rain renews the Earth in the same way tears change our perspective. Being a believer in Christ doesn't mean we will be without hard times (John 16:33) but God does promise that it rains on both the just and the unjust (Matthew 5:45) where the just shall live by faith (Hebrews 10:38). It seems there has been a lot of heavy rain and severe weather around the globe, that only seems to becoming more severe. Don't let that stop you. If you or someone you know is in the midst of a rainy season, be of good cheer, allow it to cleanse your spirit, soul, and body, and remember He overcame the world. The joy of the Lord is your strength (Nehemiah 8:10).
As you can see, she and I have similar viewpoints regarding the large water storms over the past several months: when there is pain and death, growth and birth will soon follow. In recent weeks, there has been more death--most recently, the passing of Joan Rivers, but not without the accompaniment of more births---prime example being a close friend of mine gained a new stepparent and sibling this past weekend or actresses Scarlett Johansson & Alyssa Milano each welcoming a beautiful new daughter into their worlds :)
Rain is truthfully something that may never be fully understood or appreciated, but it is necessary. Without the physical and emotional storms that life may bring us, we cannot honor what used to be, appreciate what is the now or grow into who we were destined to become.
Maybe my poem may really drive the point home a little more:
Hope you all enjoyed this post!! A special shoutout to my Oreo cookie, Chelsea DeVries for once again lending her literary stronghand to me <3 love you girly!!

Maybe my poem may really drive the point home a little more:
I've been drifting so far out to this sea
full of death, sorrow, pain & agony.
I lose my breath as I take every step
down the path hot as fire & stained with regret.
The word "impure" might as well be stamped on my head.
Being alive is taking its toll : hell, I'd rather be dead.
Yet, as soon as I get ready to drag myself along this drunken road,
I glance up at the sky and watch it unfold.
From orangish-yellow to more of a purplish-gray.
I couldn't help but wonder, "Will I see the rain today? "
First, a drop, then a trickle, with a storm finally running wild.
As it slaps my face, out comes my inner child.
Grass and leaves restored to its original green,
Blue daisies, pink lilacs, out with the ugly, in with breathtakingly pretty.
I then see this puddle as a temporary mirror,
with my thinking seeming more concrete and my vision so much clearer.
Your poem is so good...like SO GOOD! I'm really happy with the way this turned out. It came together so nicely. Great job, Jazmine. Love you too!
