Spotlight Series: Natural Hair Junkies

Hello, lovelies! I know I've been a little MIA (#overnightstockerprobs lol), but it's finally time for another episode of the Spotlight Series! *Now, just in case you're a brand new reader to my blog,  missed the last--and by far, most popular--episode or any of them, you can click right here to play catch up OR  click this here label that says "Spotlight Series" to read from the very beginning!

Now, please welcome my very special guest Sie Michelle (better known as A Natural Hair Junky) ! She is the
owner/proprietor of NaturalHairJunkies.com, which she began around January of last year after finally deciding to return to natural for a second time. Like my last featured guest, she is also a mommy to a handsome little boy :).  I originally discovered Sie via Youtube around when she began NHJ--also when I finally did my big chop--and in all honesty, I wasn't overly impressed with her at first. However, as time has passed and her brand has grown, I slowly started to admire her a bit more especially when she decided to stop being so anonymous [she even let me post a picture of her on my site! lol].

Alright, now I'll step aside and let her talk to ya'll for a bit:

1) What is the purpose of NaturalHairJunkies?
The purpose of Natural Hair Junkies is to empower, encourage and uplift women. I want to help women embrace their natural selves, build confidence and spread positivity . I also help women learn how to accept and take care of their natural hair.

2) Why did you create NHJ?
When I was going through my transition, I received a ton of negative feedback. A lot of people didn't approve of me going natural. I felt that there had to be other women out their struggling with their newly natural or transitioning tresses. So, i decided to create Natural Hair Junkies to help women, teenagers, anybody really. Help them accept themselves as is. I also did a ton of research. I wanted to learn how to take care of my hair, and in the process I learned so much more than what I expected. So I decided to share that information, and positivity with the WORLD!! lol

3) Where do you see NHJ going in the future?
I honestly see NHJ expanding. So far, I'm beyond impressed with where it has gone so far. I see it expanding and helping more females, and reaching out to the younger generations as well. I have expanded beyond hair, and my intention is to help women accept their bodies as is. Stretch marks and all.

4) What is one aspect about NHJ that you loved?
I absolutely adore helping women. I love our one on one emails, conversations, anything that adds a speck of positivity to the lives of someone else. It makes me feel good.

5) What is one aspect about NHJ that has been not so pleasant?
The worst part of running NHJ I have ever had to deal with was racism and negativity. Sometimes people comment really messed up things, that remind you of the kind of world we live in. I constantly block those types of people. I promote positivity. I just hate when negative vibes come around like that, it really makes you feel some kind of way.

6) How would your life be different if you didn't have NHJ?
I probably wouldn't have lasted as a natural. It's so much harder when you don't have any support. It's so much harder to not conform. My life wouldn't be as fulfilling as it is now. I love helping other people.
