This episode, I'm super super excited because my special guest is Crystal or Kriss, better known as NaturalMe4C! This beautiful lady is an energetic 29 year old, married to her high school sweetheart (who's HILARIOUS, by the way), & the mother of 2 very handsome boys. Kriss began sharing her hair and life journey via her blog and YouTube channel back in late 2012, on a mission to inspire others to embrace their natural beauty inside and out. I found her channel early last year about a month after my big chop (which I'll explain my own natural hair journey in a later post) and was instantly in admiration of both her bubbly personality and level of authenticity. But what I liked the most was the fact that she never once pretended to know all the answers, but instead chose to discover those answers right along with the rest of us (i.e. if she butchered an ingredient in a product, she'd let it be known without issue lol) :) but enough of my voice. I shall let her do the talking:

1) What is the purpose of "NaturalMe4c"?
The purpose of NaturalMe4C is pretty diverse, there’s a lot a different aspects to the channel… hair, family, spirituality, fun etc.  But all in all, it’s to help people learn to love and accept themselves.  I believe sharing my journey with others can help others embrace what they naturally have and become comfortable in their own skin. We are all beautiful without all the ”extra.” Simplicity is fierce. ;)

2) Who or what made you decide to go natural in the first place? Why?
I was motivated to go natural after having yet another set back in 2011.  I had grown my hair out to the longest it had ever been.  Discovering Youtube was one of the best things I could have ever done for my hair health!  Watching and learning from other channels helped me a lot but my hair still thinned out from over processing and lots of heat damage. Relaxers were just not for me… it took me over 15 years to realize that, but I’m glad I did lol.  I realized that I never really embraced my true texture nor had given myself a real chance to learn how to take care of my hair on my own.  After so many fails, I decided to take a leap of faith and go natural.  Besides, I would be rockin’ the texture I was blessed with right? Once I made the decision, I was determined to learn and master my hair.

3)Where do you see "NaturalMe4c" going in the future?
I’m not exactly sure where The Lord is going to take NaturalMe4C, but I’m very very excited! With Him, all there is to do is move forward! :D Thus far, He has blessed the channel way beyond what I ever imagined and I’m truly grateful.  I would love to expand the channel/brand into a larger platform while keeping the message the same. :D

4)What has been your most favorite part about being natural?
There are so many things I love about being natural!  I love the freedom it has provided me in regards to my confidence.  I love the versatility of my texture… short and tight one minute, stretched out the next!  I love the fact that I don’t have to spend so much time worrying about my hair anymore lol. ( I used to spend a lot of time doing that!)  I also love the fact that I’ve been able to help others along their journey too. :)

5) What has been your least favorite part about being natural?
My least favorite part about being natural is the “rain showers” that my hair graces me with during wash day lol!  Since my hair shrinks a ton when it gets wet, that means lots of water gets trapped inside my fro and then releases itself in fury lol!  Water everywhere!  My entire face, clothes, bathroom sink, tub, floor, walls, & mirror get completely DRENCHED!

6) How would you life be different if you weren't natural and didn't have “NaturalMe4c"?
I am a stay at home mom of two boys and having NaturalMe4C has been a great addition to my life. I have met and have been in contact with so many awesome people over the past year and a half!  I’m actually pretty shy, so it has helped me come out of my shell a bit as well. The fact that I have been able to record family videos in edition to the hair and makeup videos, has been such a blessing… it definitely brings our family closer together. Managing a Youtube channel is a lot of work. In fact, it has become my sort of “work from home” occupation, which I find really cool!
I’m happy to be able to contribute to my family’s well being while doing something that I love. :)  If I didn’t have NaturalMe4C, I’m not sure if I would be in a position to say the same. If I weren’t natural right now, I’m pretty sure I would still be struggling with the health of my hair lol.

Once again, a big thank you to Kriss for taking the time out to let me feature her on my blog ! If you're a fellow naturalista like myself struggling with your own hair journey, a makeup junkie looking for some inspiration or simply in need of a good laugh, you can find Kriss on:
