Spotlight Series : Sugarcoated Jewelry

Hello, lovelies!! It's almost the end of  August....what in the even??? So, guess what time it is????? That's right : it's time for another episode of the Spotlight Series!! But before I jump in, I'll give everyone the chance to catch up on the last episode right here

This episode's special guest that I sit down with is the beautiful Leah Teddington! Leah is co-owner with her sister Diana of Sugarcoated Jewelry, showcasing pieces designed for the eclectic girl and the simplistic man. When she's not busy pushing out orders with her sister, Leah is usually pushing through courses towards earning her Master's in education [beautiful, educated AND makes her own money?? That's a triple threat at its finest! lol]. I had connected with Leah via Instagram around a year and a half ago, when I had first created my account and boy, is she a sweetheart! But enough of my babbling, I'll let Miss Leah take over from here:

1) What is the purpose of Sugarcoated Jewelry?
The purpose of our jewelry business is to recreate today’s fashionable wear for women men and children, and also making the pieces at a reasonable price. Sugarcoated Jewelry was created by the sister team of Leah and Diana Teddington in 2011. Their unique fashion sense, combined with today’s hottest trends and designs, elevates ordinary jewelry to new heights with elements of sparkle, glitz and glam. The name of the business was created based on their interest in beautiful colors and sparkles from their jewelry products that attract the attention of customers.  One of the things that has inspired the sisters to turn their eclectic taste in jewelry and fashion into a jewelry business was their love and passion for fashion and design and desire to work together.
Diana has experience with working in retail as a personal stylist which required her to put outfits and accessories together for her clients, a talent of hers that allowed her to work with her sister Leah(me)  who has always had a creative mind and interest in creating things. Combining both of their talents of creativity and fashion sense, Leah and Diana formed Sugarcoated Jewelry.

2) Why did you create Sugarcoated Jewelry?
Diana and I created this business because we both love being able to own our business, and being able to make our customers happy by fulfilling their jewelry needs. We both love staying up on today’s latest fashion trends and being able to recreate popular looks at affordable prices.

3) Where do you see your business going in the future?
Possibly starting out first in a boutique, and then branching out with Sugarcoated Jewelry into clothing, makeup, and shoe lines in the future.

4) Who or what inspired you to create Sugarcoated Jewelry?
I actually had a dream one day of a product that seemed like it would be great to sell, and as soon as I woke up from my dream I wrote it down and shared it with my dad. He was the first person that I told about my idea, and then I decided to share it with my sister. I originally named my business “Interchangeable Wear” because my dream consisted of jewelry that consisted of chain jewelry pieces that were converted into multiple uses of other jewelry pieces. After that idea did not go to well, I went back to my sister and asked her to help me with this idea, and we began working together immediately and changed the entire concept of the jewelry business. We decided to rename the business to Sugarcoated Jewelry, because it is a catchy name and it makes you think of colorful jewelry pieces.

5) How would your life be if you hadn’t created Sugarcoated Jewelry?
Our lives would be great still; it just would be missing a piece of creativity from it if Sugarcoated Jewelry did not exist. It has only been 3 years since we have been running this business, and it has been challenging at times to keep a small business running, but Diana and I both enjoy what we do and we hope for this business to be able to expand one day.

Before I get outta here, I wanted to just thank Leah one more time for carving out some time to sit with me and gab about her business :) if you're in search of beautiful jewelry without wanting to spend an arm and a leg for it, you can head over to Instagram and:
